About this template
Discovery Brief Template
You have a meeting Thursday. Important client. You should know more about their business than you currently do.
The responsible thing is to spend four hours researching. Read their 10-K. Scan LinkedIn for leadership changes. Search for recent press. Cross-reference competitors. Build a picture of what they're dealing with so you can walk in with something to say beyond "so, tell me about your challenges."
The realistic thing is you'll skim their website in the Uber on the way there.
You've done this before. You know how it ends: you ask a question they answered in their earnings call, or you miss the context that would have made your pitch land. The meeting goes fine. It could have gone better. You'll never know how much better.
This template gives you a third option.
Three AI research threads run in parallel—one on sentiment (what customers, press, and industry analysts say about them), one on financials (valuation, funding rounds, revenue trends, comparables), one on strategy (positioning, competitive moves, recent announcements). They work while you do other things.
Thirty minutes later, you have a briefing:
Executive snapshot with the strategic angle that matters for your meeting—not a Wikipedia summary, but the context that shapes their decisions right now.
Financial intelligence with peer comparisons and sourced data points you can reference without sounding like you Googled them five minutes ago.
Sentiment analysis with actual quotes from customers, employees, and industry observers. The stuff that doesn't show up on their website.
Five conversation starters that demonstrate you did your homework—without being obvious about it.
Every claim is traceable to primary sources. Twenty-plus citations. The kind of prep that used to take a Sunday afternoon.
The sample briefing covers a $340M sports league. See the quality bar, then generate one for your Thursday meeting.
Walk in satisfyingly prepared.
